Big Shot Top Note Die

I am so excited about our new die cut machine, the Sizzix Big Shot!  This is the biggest and best manual die cut machine on the market today!  If you have other machines (like I do), you will leave them in the dust.  You'll even be able to keep the dies from those machines to use them in the Big Shot, along with our exclusive Stampin' Up!-Sizzix dies. 

I finally have samples ready to show you some of the things you can do with this die and the Big Shot.  The samples below all use the Bigz Top Note die.  I think this is my favorite so far.  It is wildly versatile and just plain pretty! 

This is a  white card, covered with the Chocolate polka-dot paper from our Bella Rose DSDP.  The Real Red snowflake paper is from the new "I Wish" Simply Scrappin' Kit.  And, the stamps are from the new set called To You & Yours.  I inked the house image with markers, then stampedit & cut it out with our new Wide Oval Punch.  The Old Olive mat was cut with the Coluzzle ovals template that we also carry.  They match up perfectly. The little strip across the top of the Top Note piece is whisper white cardstock that I sponged with Old Olive.  The greeting, from To You & Yours, is also stamped in Old Olive.

I simply followed Angie's instructions, using Sage Shadow cardstock, then stamped the images from To You & Yours with Chocolate Chip.  I added the white satin ribbon as a simple, soft accent.

 

This was another idea I found online, at Jill's Card Creations.  Jill CASE'd the idea from here and added instructions.  Thanks, Jill! 

I happened to have a couple bags of Hersey nuggets that I didn't use at my last club meeting, so I wrapped them with strips of paper from our new Ghostly Greetings DSDP.  I also used the Ghostly Greetings paper and the Top Note die for the bag topper.  The sentiment is from All Holidays, stamped in Pumpkin Pie.  The whisper white cardstock was punched with our Large Oval Punch, then I sponged the edge with Old Olive.  The ribbon is Tangerine Grosgrain.  And, the "crinkle paper" is Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive cardstock scraps that I ran through the paper crimper and cut into thin strips.  Emily and Mary Shannon (ages 8 and 6) had a blast helping me wrap the candy last night during another storm.  What a great distraction.  :)

Scrappin' Saturday

I made this page last Saturday and hope to make more today.  I decided to go back, way back, to 2002.  My scrapbooking has been pretty sporadic lately, and I'm working to fix that.  I sort of left off my chronological scrappin' around December 2002.  So, I started there with this one page last week, and hope to get a couple more finished today - or at least this weekend.  So, here is Emily (oldest DD), not quite 3 years old, putting out treats for Santa and his reindeer at Grandmary & Granddaddy's house.

It's a little busy, but shows you several new SU products in action, and more importantly it was tons of fun to do!

Simple Serif Mini Alphabet stamp set
Pale Plum, Garden Green, Rose Red & Whisper White cardstock
Garden Green, Going Grey, Chocolate Chip & Rose Red Classic Inks
Scallop Edge Punch, 1 1/4" punch, Scallop Circle Punch, (Marvy) scallop oval punch
Tip: When you use the scallop edge punch on a strip of paper, you will be left with a skinny straight strip of the cardstock.  That is what I used across the bottom of this page.

Be Inspired

It pays to take creative leaps outside your comfort zone...Yesterday, Jan Tink posted a card here (it's near the end of her post) that was inspired by the cover of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix:

These colors are definitely "out of the box" for me; but, I love the card.  This will now be one of the cards for my first Card Buffet in September!  A card buffet is a version of Stamp-a-Stack.  I've done a few SASs before, but this new format will be a first for me.  I will post more information soon, but mark your calendars for Saturday, September 27th.  You will get a jump start on making your holiday cards and even a birthday card or two.  Sign up for email updates (upper left corner of this page) to get all the info when I post the flyer for this event!

Hilton Head Scrapbook Page

We spent a wonderful weekend in June relaxing and having fun with family at Hilton Head.  This page will be the first in our album from that weekend.  I have a ton of photos and hope to get them all scrapped soon.  This was lots of fun!  The letters and numbers are from our On Board Lots of Letters that recently retired.  But, never fear, new letters are here!  The new SU! Fall-Winter Catalog & Idea Book has a whole new set of chipboard letters, long with tons of other fun, new products. 

I traced the letters on the pattern paper, cut and pasted them onto the chipboard pieces with our Glue Sticks, then sanded the edges.  I also used the Glue Sticks to adhere the covered chipboard letters and numbers on the textured cardstock.  The ribbon sticker and sentiment sticker are from the Summer Days Simply Scrappin' Kit (retired).  The cardstock and pattern paper are also from that kit.

Stamp Camp Fundraiser

Wow, I didn't even realize until today that it's been over a week since my last post.  Sorry about that!  Now that we're home from vacation, I promise to post lots more...

Let's start with some overdue photos from our Kids' Stamp Camp in July.  This was my first fund-raiser event, and was in support of a local walking team that is participating the the Avon Walk for Cancer - Charlotte, NC, this Fall.  We had a small but very fun group of kids, and they all had a blast.  Here are a few "action" shots:

We started by stamping lime green lunch bags so they had a place to put each project as they finished. 

The actual projects were a monogram pizza box with a decorated pen and stationary, a covered, monogram notebook, and a post-it note key chain (also monogram).  We had a break for lunch and playtime, then made a paper bag scrapbook. 

My only regret is that I forgot to take pictures of the kids' masterpieces.  Sorry!  They were all similar to the samples, but the kids were great about being creative and making the projects their own.  Here are some photos of the samples I made prior to the camp, as well as Emily and Mary Shannon's notebooks.

Thank you moms and kids for participating!  I'm so glad everyone has so much fun, and helped support a great cause at the same time! 

I will have one more fund-raiser for Team Courage this Fall.  This time it will be a Mom's Day Out.  I'll post more on that as soon as we work out the details.

Sweet Angel Babies

Keeping with the baby theme of my last post, here are a couple of cards that also use the baby from "All in the Family."                          

On the girl card, I used the Sweet Stars jumbo wheel for the background.  The stars are a stamp from Nursery Necessities that were punched with our Large Star Punch.  The background on the boy card is from a piece of Soft Sky Double-Sided Designer Paper (retired).

Both angels (from If the Halo Fits - dormant list) and babies (from All in the Family) were stamped on watercolor paper and colored using Blender Pens and Classic Ink Pads.

Cute Baby Shower Favors

Last Fall one of the popular 3-D items to make was a little paper basket with a few decorated peppermint candies.  I altered that idea a bit for the Baby Fair back in May.  This is what it looked like:

I just love this little baby from the All in the Family set.  Actually, I love the whole set.  I was a little unsure about buying such an expensive set, but it was definitely well worth the cost.

I made the tiny flowers with our Boho Blossoms punch and Pretty in Pink brads.

The covers for the peppermints were punched with our Scallop and 1 1/4" Punches.

And "It's A Girl" is from Nursery Necessities, another very fun baby & kids set.  It was punched with our Word Window Punch.

Are you ready for some stampin'?!

The brand new 2008 Fall-Winter Catalog & Idea Book is open for orders!  I just received my copy today, while visiting Mom and Dad in NJ.  HUGE thanks to Kimberly for mailing the catalog to me after the boxes arrived at our house last week!!!!  Girl, you rock!

You will LOVE this catalog!  It is definitely the best yet.  Everything from the scallop-edged cover to the new technique tutorials at the end of each section, and everything in-between is fresh and fun.

I placed my big (ok huge) order this afternoon.  I have tons of new stamps, paper and accessories on the way.  I also purchaed our new Sizzix Big Shot starter kit along with more dies than the ones included in the kit.  I can't wait to get home and play with it all, and show you what I come up with! 

Stay tuned for lots of new projects, promotions from SU!, and all my Fall-Winter events.  There is a lot going on, and you won't want to miss a thing!

For now, I would like to kick off our new catalog season with a little organization project.  We're all constantly trying to organize, and re-organize, right?  Well, this little accordian file box is here to help!

I made mine with our new Bella Rose 12x12 DSDP, a new stamp set called Heard from the Heart, Pretties Kit flowers & pearl halfbacks (including the little box bottom feet).  I also used little magnets to keep the file box closed.

I have tons of little stamped pieces of paper that I just know I'll use one of these days.  LOL!  This was the perfect storage idea for all those stamped images. 

I feel a stamp camp featuring this project coming on...anyone interested?  Let me know and I'll start planning one.

Mini Scrapbook Purse

Here is a very fun, quick little scrapbook project. 

This is a mini version of Jan Tink's Carousel Notes Purse.  The mini version idea is from Becky Roberts at Inking Idaho.  Thank you Jan and Becky for the great inspiration!

For mine, I used the Seriously Sassy set (on the dormant list as of tonight), and photos of Emily and her friend Alyssa from "Twin Day" at school a couple of years ago. 

Seriously Sassy was also used on the inside.  I forgot to take pictures of the round inserts, but the little round tags are tucked into the envelop pockets.

Blogger's Withdrawal

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted something here.  I didn't have internet access for a few days, plus being on R'n'R I've been a bit lazy.  I'm also pinning for my new catalogs.  I should have a copy by tomorrow afternoon, and a few are in the mail already to those who requested a pre-ordered copy.  If you would like a catalog, please leave a comment and I will mail/deliver them as soon as possible.  Remember, if you join a club or place a $150+ order, your catalog is FREE!  So, sign up or schedule your workshop today! 

Today is the LAST day to order from the current Catalog.  If you would like any retiring items that are still available, please email me as early today as possible.

SU and Sizzix, So Happy Together!

Are you ready for this?!  It's Convention Week at Stampin' Up! and there's all kinds of big news coming out of Salt Lake City!

Stampin' Up! has partnered with Sizzix!  We will carry the Sizzix Big Shot Die Cut Machine with exclusive dies, starting this Fall!  The Big Shot works with basically all the other dies on the market.  I have a Sizzix, a Quikutz and a Cuttlebug.  With the SU! Sizzix Big Shot, all I need is one machine.  It will work with all my other dies, in addition to the soon-to-be-released Stampin' Up! exclusives!  If you want a die cut machine, this is the one to get! 

The Big Shot items will be in our 2008 Holiday Mini Catalog, which will be available on October 1st.  I will pre-order the starter kit, so you can see how the Big Shot works, the many types of materials you can cut with it, and play with it some before you order it.  This is really big news in the SU! world, since we've all been waiting for the opportunity to sell a die cut machine! 

A couple of other items that were announced in the last couple of days are Shelli's new blog and new Signature Collection, and Phase II of our new Decor Elements line.  Shelli is the co-founder of SU!, and starting August 4th, she will open her own creative blog.  This promises to be a great site for demonstrators and customers.  She will also launch her own "Signature Collection" of products in the 2008 Holiday Mini Catalog!  These will  be some of her favorite items, as well as some products that she helped develop.  Decor Elements Phase II will also launch in the Fall.  There are tons of new designs and several new colors. 

This will be a very exciting year, and I can't wait to share all our fun, new products with you!  I'm scheduling events now, so let me know when you want to book your Fall workshops!
