Parisian Punched Purse

 

When I saw Chat (aka: nitestamper) post a card on her blog with four seriously adorable punched purses, I knew I had to play!

Here is just one of the purses on a mini 3x3 card.  The patterned paper is from the Parisian Breeze Specialty 12x12 paper pack.  The swirl is from the Simple Friendship stamp set.

Masculine Birthday Card

This is such a fun card to make!  It's totally random stamping that looks like patterned paper.  The card base is Chocolate Chip and the front is Baja Breeze.  I stamped some images from Big Bold Birthday and Crazy for Cupcakes, randomly, in Baja ink.  Then, added the cupcake, candle and sentiments from Big Bold Birthday in Chocolate Chip ink.  Before adhering the card front, I wrapped a piece of Chocolate ribbon around the bottom.  The little cupcake is from the Cupcakes Stampin' Around Wheel.  I just rolled it a little and punched the spot I wanted with  the 3/4" Circle Punch.  It was layered with a 1" Circle that I punched from piece of Parisian Breeze Specialty Paper.  Voila!  You can easily stamp a stack of these to keep on hand throughout the year.

How do you teach kids the age-old art of writing thank you notes?

K.I.S.S. them!  K.I.S.S. stands for Keep It Simple Stamper.  Here's the idea:

Make these super-cute, kid-friendly thank you notes with your child.  Let them fill-in the blanks and help address the envelopes!  This is a quarter-sheet card, so it only requires half the card stock of a normal card base.

And, here's how to make it:

Stamp the Simple Thanks cupcake stamp twice, once each on coordinating papers (I used our Tea Party Double-Sided Designer Paper); then, cut them out and adhere to a matching piece of card stock.  I also stamp the cherry on a piece whisper white card stock and color with a Red Red Stampin' Write Marker, cut out and add with Tombow tape or a pop-dot.  Add a tiny drop of Crystal Effects to each of the little circles in the frosting, and sprinkle with glitter for an extra little sparkle.

Make several of these before the next big holiday or your child's next birthday, then let them fill-in the blanks to say thanks!

Envelope Photo Gift

Here is another fun photo gift!  It is based on the design by Nerine P at Stampin' Addiction.  It was really easy to put together.

I used some of the Frosty Day Designer Series Paper from the 2008 Holiday Mini Catalog, along with the Priceless, Winter Post and Teacher's Helper  stamp sets.

Top Note Mini Album

This fun little album was a recent birthday gift for Tom's Aunt.

I ran some chipboard coasters through the Big Shot with the Top Note Die.  Then, I ran the Brilliant Blue pattern paper and the photos with the Top Note as well.  I used a Stampin' Up glue stick to adhere the photos and paper to the die cut chipboard.

The back of each page has a piece of Brilliant Blue card stock that was also run with the Top Note, then stamped with snowflakes from Snow Burst in StazOn white ink.

I punched holes in each page with the Crop-A-Dile, then used a binder ring to hold them all together.  I stamped the cover title with our Jumbo Outline Alphabet.  Finally, I added a few ribbons to dress up the binder ring.

Last Days: Register for Coasters to Companions!

Join my March Stampin' Class ~ Coasters to Companions!  Turn ordinary chipboard coasters into beautiful desk companions for your office.  These fun items also make wonderful gifts for teachers, co-workers, and other special people in your life!

March Club Projects

My Club Members get to make these great little birthday treats this month!

   

I have officially fallen in love with our Raspberry Tart DSP.  I honestly did not like this paper when it first arrived.  But, now that I've been playing with it, I'm using it a lot and just ordered another package!

The image and sentiment are from Crazy for Cupcakes.  The colors are Rose Red (although my lighting is a little off here), Regal Rose, Kiwi Kiss and Whisper White. 

The cupcakes are "frosted" with Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds.

 

I love this little gift bag.  It was so quick and easy, and looks great with our card.  The accordion flower can be found in the Sale-A-Bration catalog, where they used Delicate Dots DSP (a Sale-A-Bration item you can earn with a $50 order).

The "true friend" sentiment is from the Simple Friendship stamp set, and the flourish is from Doodle This.

The flower is really easy to make.  I would love to show you how to do it.

Learn Some Tips for Scrapbooking with Your Children

Do you love the thought of scrapbooking for kids but don't know how to get started? Many scrapbookers would love to scrapbook with their kids but are not sure what supplies to offer or how to keep things from getting disorganized or too messy. Do you just open your scrapbooking stash to your kids and let them choose what they want to use or should there be rules to scrapbooking for kids? Here are some top tips for scrapbooking with children.

1. Keep scrapbooking for kids fun and relaxed. Let go of the idea that all pages need to be perfect. For children, it's all about the process and working with the materials, not the product or end result.

2. Designate certain materials for your kids to use when scrapbooking. Scrapbook supplies are expensive, and you may have embellishments or paper you purchased just for a specific album, like Disney World stickers for last summer's vacation pictures. Don't just let your children have complete access to your supplies. Assemble the papers and materials you would like them to use, and keep them separate from your supplies.

3. Scrapbooking for children should be age appropriate. This applies specifically to scrapbooking tools. Your child may be old enough to use scissors, but some of the specially-designed cutting systems for scrapbooking can be too dangerous for young children. Look over your tools carefully, and consider whether or not your children are old enough to use these tools according the manufacturer's instructions. Carefully explain the safety precautions. For example, when using an eyelet setter, always use a mat under the paper to protect your work surface.

4. Have photos that interest your children available for scrapbooking. Scrapbooking for kids is more fun when they are working with photos that include them. Does your daughter love stuffed animals? Let her do a whole album with pictures of her stuffed animal collection.

5. Use duplicate photos when scrapbooking for children. Then, let them use the photograph any way they wish. You still have an original for your scrapbooks.

6. Scrapbooking for children should always include journaling. Have your children use their own handwriting. They should sign and date the page as well. The photographs on the page may be from a different time period, but by signing and dating the page you can later see how old they were when they designed the page. You may need to give your children journaling prompts, but for most children, let them express their own thoughts and feelings on the page layout.

7. Keep scrapbooking supplies for children organized. Store supplies for scrapbooking with your kids in separate bins and encourage your children to keep them organized and sorted for their next scrapbook project.

8. Teach your children scrapbooking techniques. Again, consider the ages and artistic abilities of your kids. Simple scrapbooking techniques like paper tearing and matting are easy for most children to learn. Older children might enjoy rubber stamping or embossing on their page layouts.

Scrapbooking for kids is a fun and exciting hobby for families. It's a fantastic opportunity for quality time with your children. Follow these tips and schedule some time for scrapbooking with your kids today.
