Making Pretties for Team Courage

 

Yesterday afternoon, I had so much fun helping Heather make 35 of these pretty little boxes for her Team Courage meeting.

The boxes will contain LOTS of pink jelly beans (my personal favorite), which Heather found at the mall yesterday.

We made the boxes with my brand new Boxes #2 die for the Big Shot.  The die made it very quick and easy.  We completed all 35 boxes in less than two hours!  The ribbon stamp is from our retired stamp set called Godspeed.

West Point Scrapbook Page & A New Project

Congratulations USMA Class of '09!

This weekend I finally started scanning photos from our wedding - in December 1997!

The first photo in our book will be an enlargement of the Cadet Chapel at West Point, where we were married. 

My first thought was to go with Army Black and Gold. 

But, as I worked on this page, it quickly became apparent that I was making something better suited for the Army-Navy Game, Graduation, or someone stationed at USMA.  I love this page, but it definitely was not wedding album material. 

So, I dedicate this page to the newly commissioned graduates of the USMA Class of 2009!

Cute & Cuddly Baby Mini Album

 

I made this Cute & Cuddly album for the newest addition to the Holliday Clan. 

 

Congratulations, Nancy and Aaron!

 

The base is our Large On Board Book Basics (chipboard), covered with Parisian Breeze Specialty Paper.  I used the Top Note Die on a rectangle coaster and mounted a matching piece of Watercolor Paper on it, after water-coloring the bear from Cute & Cuddly and sponging the sky and grass.  I also used balloons from Big Bold Birthday, the scallop square sentiment from Cute & Cuddly, and letters from our Short Order Alphabet stamp set.

Some of the stamps I used on this project are retired.

The Parisian Breeze Paper and the Baja Breeze card stock will retire on June 30.  Be sure to stock up!

 

The current stamp sets used here are Cute & Cuddly and Nursery Necessities.

 

I used my Bind-It-All to give the book its spiral binding.

 

I also wrote photo dimensions on each photo mat to make filling the album very easy.

Circles of Inspiration

Yesterday, I was inspired by a card that Tiffany Bauer had posted on her blog.  I decided not to coy it exactly, but to use our Rockabilly Specialty paper with the sentiment from our Great Friend stamp set to put my own spin on this fun circle card.  What's even better is that the card is very large. 

It is a piece of Whisper White card stock cut to 8" x 9" and scored at 4".  And, it will fit in a #10 size business envelope. 

I had a blast making this card (and two more just like it), and really enjoyed working on a different dimensions.  I will definitely make more cards like this soon.

Teacher Scrapbooks

I've been working with Kelly, Thomas' room-mom, to get these scrapbook pages ready for the teachers. 

I needed to have them ready for Graduation tonight.

This front page will have the kids' group photo on the Chocolate photo mat.

 

This is a view of all the pages for one book.  There are eighteen 8x8 pages for the kids, plus a front and back page, in each book.

The last page in each teacher's book is a "thank you" from all the kids. 

I used the basic MS font called "Curlz MT" and multiple text boxes, printed on Whisper White card stock, to make all the little faux signatures.

These books were really fun to make, and will be a nice little keepsake for the teachers.

Preschool Scrappin'

I wanted to try making a cloud background, and decided that since Thomas' last year of preschool is called the "Butterfly Class," I could make the clouds and die cut some butterflies.  The 12x12 background is Whisper White.  I saw the idea for these clouds on Kathy Thisted's blog.  Punch our Scallop Oval punch twice (using any scrap paper) and adhere together at the ends, forming a very slight, wide "u" shape.  Place the scallops on the page and sponge around them with your choice of blue ink.  I used Baja Breeze here.  Move across and down the page, leaving space between the sponged areas for the white to pop through.  Turn the cloud template as you go, too.  This is helps to vary the look of your clouds. 

I used our SU! exclusive die called Beautiful Butterflies to make those nice, big butterflies.  The pattern paper I used is Walk in the Park, from our Occasions Mini Catalog.  The title was cut with our SU! exclusive die called Billboard.  And, the grass stamp is in a set called Inspired by Nature.  This set is currently on our dormant list and can be found online, HERE.  Just click the "shop now" button and do a search for this set or any others you may be interested in purchasing.

May Club Projects: Cute & Cuddly Baby Card & Mini Box with Sizzix

I am having so much fun with our Cute & Cuddly stamp set, especially this adorable little teddy bear.  He is so much fun to color.

And now, my club members will get to play with him too!  Our May projects will be this fun card and the little box below. 

I wanted to do something a little different with this card, so I made it a horizontal tri-fold card.  When folded, it is 4 1/4" high and 5 1/2" long.  I stamped the bear on watercolor paper and colored him with Creamy Caramel and Blush Blossom Stampin' Write Markers. 

The pattern paper I used is our Baja Breeze Specialty Designer 12x12 paper.

While I was playing with Cute & Cuddly and my Big Shot, I made this teeny tiny box that would be perfect filled with treats for BABY SHOWER FAVORS!  I just ran the Baja Breeze paper through the Big Shot with our exclusive Matchbox Die, added the 5/8" Jumbo Brad to the drawer, and decorated the top with another little bear and some Chocolate Chip 1/4" grosgrain ribbon.

Join Me In July For Our Next Tour!

I chose the stamp set Welcome Home for my projects, because I had an idea for a "farewell" card with matching "just moved" cards that could be given as a small going away gift.  I also wanted to try incorporating this set into scrapbook pages, especially since I have seen very few samples that feature it.  So, here is my Welcome Home showcase!

This is the "farewell" card.  I love the way the Sizzix Oval Scallop Frame works with the house in this set.    

I sponged Kiwi Kiss on the Whisper White card base and as grass on the oval, with Baja Breeze for the sky.

 

 

 

I used Washington Apple Designer on the farewell card, as well as these "new address" cards.

 

Here is the backside of the "new address" cards.  I just typed the information into text boxes on a Power Point slide, fitting four to a page.  I changed the font color to brown, and printed on Whisper White card stock.

 

• This cute little 6x6 scrapbook page was super quick and easy.

• I think this page with a matching jumbo clothespin would be a great keepsake for children when the families move.  They could put a picture of their old house on the page, and keep it in their new room.

I saved the best for last!  Here is a 12x12 Welcome Home page that is great for any Dad or Mom, especially returning soldiers. 

This is one of my all-time favorite photos of Tom and the kids - the day he came home from his last Afghanistan deployment.

The background is textured Whisper White with punched stars, using our Large and Small Star punches.  You could also do this with the Sizzix Star #2 die.

Happy "Poppin'" Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day, Everyone!

I had a blast making these Mother's Day cards. 

The sentiment stamp is from All Holidays.  I simply stamped it in So Saffron, then randomly swiped my Real Red Stampin' marker over the Saffron.

The flowers were even more fun and just as easy!  I ran the Sizzix Manhattan Flower Impressions Folder (exclusive to Stampin' Up) through my Big Shot, using our Vellum card stock.  I turned the Vellum card stock over, so the raised edges were facing down, and used a variation on the POPPIN' PASTELS technique to color the petals.  I applied my VersaMarker to several petals at a time, then used tiny cotton balls to apply Stampin' Pastels over the VersaMark ink.  On this card I used Summer Sun and Real Red pastels, and blended them as I moved from section to section to make the variegated colors.  Once the flowers were colored, I cut them out and adhered them to the Whisper White card front with a little liquid glue.  The variations in the colors help to hide where the glue was applied.

Wedding Shower Invitations with Recipe Cards

These are invitations for Emily's teacher to send for her sister's bridal shower.  I made thirty (30) of them with the party info printed and adhered to the back.  I used For the Bride and Fifth Avenue Floral.

The bride's dress is cranberry and her bride's maids will wear platinum-colored dresses.  It just so happened that I had a bunch of retired Cranberry Crisp paper and the ink (In Color from 2007), so it was a perfect match.  Oh and I printed the party info in cranberry as well.  The rose from Fifth Avenue Floral was stamped-off Basic Grey. 

Recipe cards were also requested by the bride, so the guests could give her their favorite recipes.  Again, I used the Cranberry Crisp Ink and stamped-off Basic Grey. 

Everything was stamped/printed on Very Vanilla card stock, even though it looks more white here.  I also adhered a plain piece of Very Vanilla to the back of each recipe card so longer recipes can be continued on the back.
