The crazy long move is over (although we're still unpacking and trying to find the rest of the Christmas decorations). And, I feel like I can finally get to some stamping and creativitiy, and soon get back to business.
I have lots of projects to make and will share them with you soon.
To get back in the swing of posting, I decided to start with this candle I decorated recently for friends who are newlyweds and new homeowners.
This is a fun and easy way to personalize any jar candle for any occasion.
There have been some concerns about some of the methods of decorating candles for the holidays, especially using tissue paper to add images directly onto pillar candles. This is my solution: a "belly band" that slides easily off the jar, so there are no worries about any potential fire hazard with this gift. (I am sure I'm not the first to do this, but I did not follow anyone else's example or instructions.)
Designer Series Paper and 12x12 cardstock do not quite fit around this particular size candle. So, I just added a small extension to each layer, adhereing everything with Sticky Strip.
Be sure to attach the ends of your cardstock to each other without getting any adhesive on the back of the cardstock. If you hold the cardstock around the jar as you adhere the ends, you can ensure a tight fit without having to tack the paper to the jar. This will allow the recipient to slide the decorative band off when burning the candle, if they so choose, and replace it when the glass has cooled.
Here is how I decorated the lid, too:
After adhering this to the top of the lid, I also added a matching circle on the inside of the lid. That way, when you open the candle and turnover the lid, you do not see any adhesive. Just be sure to remind anyone you give this type of candle to, that they should let the candle cool before replacing the lid.
Have fun creating this holiday season! I'll be back with more ideas real soon...
Happy Stampin'!
