Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for many things, among which are my husband and kids, family, friends, freedom, and the fact that we are finally getting settled after a very extended move. 

I had these things in mind as I created my fluffy, fat turkey with punches and Sizzix dies, as a project for Thomas' first-grade class. This was the first real project that I've been able to make since moving into the new house, and can't wait to get to work on more projects after celebrating the holiday this weekend. 

The kids had a blast making these guys last week!  I think the their favorite things on this card were the googlie eyes and getting to punch the two little tags for the waddle.  They also got a kick out of using the Sizzix die cut machine.  

I hope you all have a fun, relaxed, and safe Thanksgiving weekend! 

Inkin' Up Some Easter Eggs!

A few days before Easter, I saw some stampin' folks talking about dying their Easter Eggs with Stampin' Up! Reinkers.  What great timing, I thought!  This was the first year that I had forgotten to purchase egg dying kits, so I was really excited to try it.  Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos of the eggs all together.  But, I did at least capture the process and the eggs that Tom and I decorated.  

This was Tom's first stamping project, ever.  Unfortunately, for some reason, this particular egg dried with purple speckles all over it.  We died it in Wild Wasabi ink, but this was definitely not the look he was trying to achieve.  ;)  He did use a non-SU stamp, but with good reason.  This is the Special Forces Crest.  It was tricky, trying to stamp a larger image on a round surface, but he did quite well for a rookie.  I tried to get him to use a smaller "Beat Navy" stamp, but once presented with a challenge, the man does not give up. 

This is one of the two eggs  that I decorated with retired rub-ons.  I dyed it in Rose Red.  Love it! 

 

Below is my Summer Sun egg.  I was not as happy with this one, but it's still cute.

Winter Treats for Classmates

Snowmen, snowmen, everywhere!  I made 64 snowman treats for the kids to give their friends (three classes full). 

I bought the little popper/paddle ball snowmen online, put them in our cello bags, sealed the bags with a tiny bit of SNAIL Adhesive, and added these cute toppers.

This was a great kid project!  Emily (age 9) helped me with most of them.  We used punches, the Sizzix Big Shot and our Sassy Sparkles jumbo wheel to make short work of these toppers.

Mrs. Beaudette's Kindergarten Class Christmas Card

This was a crazy, but fun week in the kids' kindergarten and 2nd grade classes.  Part of that fun was making this card with Thomas' kindergarten class on Wednesday.  (I would have been in 4th grade too, but thought Emily would be too embarrassed.  I found out later that I was wrong, so I'll have to do something with them in the New Year.)

I pre-cut the Bashful Blue card stock pieces and stamped them in Not Quite Navy with "let it snow" from our Big on Christmas stamp set.  I used our Note Cards and Envelopes, so they were all pre-cut and scored (two less steps for me - yay!).  The kids stamped the circle snowflake from our Punch Pals set on the front of the card, and one on the envelope.  They also got to sponge some Not Quite Navy on the Bashful Blue card stock.

On the inside of the card, we helped the kids make this little finger-print snowman with some Bashful Blue ink (thanks for the idea Kelli!). They also stamped the "season's greetings" from a retired set.

I made the little hats ahead of time from a 1/4" square punch of Basic Black card stock, plus a little hand-cut strip of the same.  Mini glue dots are the perfect size to stick these on the snowman's head.  I drew the little faces for them with a black pen and my Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write Marker. 

We all had lots of fun, and the kids did a great job of sharing supplies!  Once we were finished, the other parents arrived and we all made gingerbread houses from milk cartons.

Christmas, stamping, kids and candy, gotta love it!  Although, I was glad the candy was after the stamping.  LOL!

Cutie Snowman Thanks

Don't you just love this little guy?!  He's one of the new stamps in our Holiday Mini Catalog, Simple Seasonal Thanks (Item #111548).

The background paper is also in the new Mini, and is called Christmas Cocoa Specialty Paper (Item #116770), and has both shimmery papers and flocked papers.

I stamped and cut out the snowman, then stamped, colored, cut and adhered the scraf and the top of his hat.  I used a Real Red and Soft Suede Markers.  I added some Real Red Brads to his scraf for a even more dimension. 

He's mounted on a quarter sheet card, a piece of Real Red card stock cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" with the Specialty paper cut to 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".

This cutie is a great way to get kids involved in making their own thank you cards for holiday presents.  They can even cut and color him themselves!

Count-Down to Stamp Camp Fundraiser

I just wanted to remind everyone about our Stamp Out Cancer Fundraiser.  This is a Children's Stamp Camp that will be held next week, on Tuesday and Wednesday.  You pick which day is best for you.  We will complete the same projects each day.  The proceeds for this Stamp Camp will be donated to Team COURAGE, a local walking team that will participate in the Avon Walk for Cancer - Charlotte this October.  The cost is $35 per child.  You can view more details in the flyer here: Download stamp_out_cancer_flyer_1_extended_deadline.pdf.  If you are interested in having your child(ren) participate in the Stamp Camp on either July 29th or July 30th, please contact me for registration information as soon as possible.  You can also view large images of some of our projects in my first post here.

Let the Blogging Begin!

Happy 4th of July!  I am thrilled to be launching my new blog to the sounds of fireworks being launched around our neighborhood!  It's just after 11pm here, so things are settling down.  I, on the other hand, am just getting started.  I am so excited about showing you Stampin' Up! products, my little creations, tips & techniques, new ideas, and much more!  Please feel free to email me or leave comments anytime.  I can't wait to hear from you!

I want to show you a couple of things tonight, just to get us started.  The first is our new Decor Elements line of wall art.  These self-adhesive, vinyl images are perfect for making a quick and beautiful change to any room in your home.  I will post a photo of mine, once we get them on the wall this weekend.  Click here to view our new brochure on-line, and watch an instructional video from the Stampin' Up! The other thing I would like to mention tonight is my first Stampin' Up! fund-raiser.  I am holding a Kids' Stamp Camp on July 29th and July 30th to help a dear friend of mine and her teammates raise money for the Avon Walk for Cancer.  The Walk will be held in Charlotte, NC, this October.  I am truly honored to have this opportunity, and hope to raise a generous donation for them in memory of my Granny Elva and in honor of our Aunt Eloise.  Download my flier for more information here: Download stamp_out_cancer.pdf.

We will make several projects with the children at Stamp Camp.  One of the projects will be these cute little stationary sets.  I have one version for the boys and one for the girls.  I also have a few more surprise projects, and even cards they can make if we have enough time.     

Please contact me if you are interested in making a donation to Team Courage, or if you are local to the Fayetteville area and would like your child(ren) to attend this event.  At this time, we are holding the stamp camp for children ages 6 and up.  We plan to hold a Mom's Day Out event in the Fall, and are looking into a Mommy and Me Stamp Camp for children ages 5 and under.  I will post more info on these events as we progress in our planning.
