Collage Stamping on a Scrapbook Page

I love collage stamping!  It's such a fun way to make your own background papers to match your photos or card designs.  Collage stamping can take a little time, if you're doing a large piece, like this 12x12 Kraft Card Stock.  The result is worth the effort. 

Simply start with largest stamp you're using and the lightest ink color.  Randomly stamp around the paper, then move to the first smaller stamp and darker ink.  Continue until you've nearly covered the whole page.  You can leave those holes, or fill them in with more stamps in the lightest colors of ink.  If there are larger holes, use the largest stamp again in a darker color (either the same as you started with or use a lighter color for more dimension).  Sponging around the edges of your finished pieces also adds dimension and antiquing to it.

8 Weeks of Hanukkah - #7

Welcome to 8 Weeks of Hanukkah

Cards, Gifts and Bags! I've created cards, tags, gift items and gift bags to share with you over these 8 weeks leading up to the
celebration of Hanukkah. 
The series is in the same format as my 12 Weeks of Christmas, including step-by-step instructions.  Next year, it will be exclusive to my newsletter members.  But, since this is a brand new series, I decided to publish it for everyone.  Unfortunately, this series has been overcome by events, but I will play catch-up and get the rest of my samples to you over the next several days.

Sample #7 is a Glittery Bag made with our Fancy Favor Die and Glimmer Paper.  This bag comes together very quickly, so you can easily make lots of them for all your small gifts!

Supplies:

Silver Glimmer Paper  #124005
Fancy Favor Die  #115965
Big Shot Die Cutting Machine  #113439
Extended Cutting Pads for Big Shot  #113478
Extended Premium Crease Pad for Big Shot  #117630
Bashful Blue Satin Ribbon  #124325
Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue  #110755
Mini Glue Dots  #103683

Instructions:

1. Cut a sheet of 12x12 Glimmer Paper in half, and run it through the Big Shot using the following sandwich layers:  extended cutting pad on bottom, then a card stock shim (if neceessary for your machine), then the die topped with the Glimmer Paper (*glimmer side down), then the exteneded crease pad (add another shim on top if necessary to gain a clean cut).
2. Fold and glue the tabs of the die cut paper to form the bag.
3. Cut 2 pieces of Bashful Blue Satin Ribbon to about 5-6" and attach to the inside of the bag, forming handles.
4. Wrap more Bashful Satin Ribbon around the bag and tie a knot, then trim the excess ribbon.
5. Fill with a tasty treat or a small gift.

I am very far behind on all my social media fun stuff.  I promise I'll fix that over the next few days.  I rolled right from a fun family trip to Nashville over Thanksgiving into hosting a baby shower, then a vendor opportunity popped up.  So, now that the reality fun is done, I can spend a little more time on our virtual fun.  I will catch up on the 8 Weeks of Hanukkah, and also send out the missed weeks from my 12 Weeks of Christmas newsletters very soon.

Summer Simply Scrappin': Playful Polka Dots

Have you seen the 2011 Stampin' Up! Summer Mini Catalog?!  It is full of fabulous products, including a Simply Scrappin' Kit called Playful Polka Dots!

This is a fun, bright kit with bunches of card stock stickers, textured card stock and Designer Series Paper. 

But wait, it gets better...This kit is also available as a Digital Designing Download!  You can see the paper kit HERE and the digital kit HERE.

I used both the real paper kit and the digital kit on this page.  The picture in the top corner was digi-"punched" with the Curly Lable Digital Punch (which comes with the My Digital Studio software), then layered on some First Edition Digital Designer Series Paper.  I also added scallop "punched" borders and a solid border on top of that for a more finished look.  The whole image was saved and printed on photo paper.

My Digital Studio: Faux Paper Folding Technique

Wow! I have seen several great digi-techniques lately, using just My Digital Studio!  I have not developed these myself, but I have seen them online.  I didn't see the instructions for this particular technique, so I figured it out myself.  I will share what I discovered with you soon!  I'm working on several MDS Tutorials of my own versions of the MDS Basics plus these special techniques.  It is a slow process with taking so many screen-shots and adding the text, etc.  Stayed tuned for more info on tutorial releases soon!

The one I used on this page is Faux Folded Corner!

Super Simple Scrapbooking and a Challenge

Are You Ready For Some Football...? 
How about some Super Simple Scrapbooking for Super Bowl Sunday?

I found these photos a few days ago.  They are from July 2002, when we visited family in New York and Connecticut.  My Uncle Bill is a huge Green Bay Packers fan, and put the helmet on our then two year old daughter.  How stinkin' cute is that?! 

I went super simple on these pages, partly because I wanted the photos to stand out, and partly because this is a really bold color combination. 

I love that I was able to make all the numbers and letters in our Daffodil Delight to match the rest of both pages.  I simply used my Stampin' Up! Sizzix Big Shot with our EXCLUSIVE Timeless Type Junior Alphabet (#115951) die set and adhered them with Tombow MonoAdhesive.

CHALLENGE:  What can you do with this year's Super Bowl Colors?

Father's Day Club Projects

Father's Day is just around the corner; and this month, my club members are making a card and 6x6 scrapbook page for the occasion. 

I saw a card that Becky Roberts made, over at Inking Idaho, and just loved her creative use of our Totally Tool stamp set!  I decided this would be one of our club projects; then, changed it a little, to put my own spin on it and so that we could use our new Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

I wanted a 6x6 scrapbook page to match the card, and this is what I came up with:

It's simple and masculine, and ready for one or more small photos of Dad!

Happy Mother's Day: A Tale of Two Toms . . .

I thought it was fitting to share this scrapbook page with you on Mother's Day.  It is Tom on his 2nd birthday, June 1972.  What a cutie - then and now! 

I just made this one recently, using some paper that was in our Holiday Mini Catalog (sorry, it's no longer available), and the Big Shot.  Thomas (our 6 year old) actually came up with the idea of using  the Taken With Teal letters behind the Really Rust letters!

And, here is a page of Thomas on his 2nd Birthday.  I LOVE this photo!

This is definitely an oldie.  It was one of the very first pages I made after signing up as a SU! Demonstrator.  In fact, I was at a friend's crop with my brand new goodies (the Starter Kit had just gotten here that same day!).  The only things on this page that are SU! are Alphabet letters, which are now retired, and the Chocolate Chip Ink that I used to stamp them.  Now, I only use SU! products, but I love to look at my older pages, mostly for the photos but also to see who my style has changed over the years.   

Everyone has told Thomas for years that he looks just like his Daddy when he was young.  Well, the other day, we realized that he knows exactly what that means . . .  We were at a friend's house, and in the conversation Liz said, "It's a good thing you're cute."  And, without skipping a beat, Thomas turns toward Tom, points right at his face and says, "Yeah, soon I'll be that!"

I'm so glad to have you as a guest in my Castle! 

The projects you will see, during your visit here, feature a variety of color schemes and types of projects; but, they all have one thing in common.  All of these projects feature the very versatile Stampin' Up! set called Priceless {Item #115052}.  It is a name very befitting of the photos in my first project (above).

This is a 12x12 scrapbook page of my Prince teaching one of our Princesses how to ride her bike without the training wheels.  It is . . . "Priceless." 

Color Scheme: Tempting Turquoise, Lovely Lilac, Orchid Opulence, and Certainly Celery.

Here is a fun little card, standard A2 size. 

Color Scheme:  Bermuda Bay, Rose Red and Whisper White

 

I love the butterfly image in Priceless!  It's cute and whimsical without being to "kiddie." 
This mini composition book would be perfect for a teacher gift, especially one with a "butterfly" class like in our Prince's preschool.  

The final project in my Royal Gallery is a fun mini scrapbook that I created with our Sizzix Big Shot and Dies.  In addition to the Priceless set, this one also features our brand new Island Oasis Designer Series Paper and Island Floral Die.  Both of these will be available on May 1st, in the Stampin' Up! 2010 Summer Mini Catalog. 

I love using our think Window Sheets to make scrapbooks and journals!  Here is the album with the front cover open.

Simple Scrapbooking

Don't Let Baby Photos Overwhelm You

What a face!  This is a digital scrapbook page that I made the other day in My Digital Studio, with a few pictures from Emily's first zwieback cookie experience (in 2000).  Can you tell she loved it?  LOL!  It's so hard to believe she's already 10 years old.  I love going back and scrapbooking baby photos.  We have so many between the three kids that I'll probably never finish, and that's ok.  It's tons of fun to work on older photos, especially happy baby ones! So, never feel like you have to get them all scrapbooked right away.  Take your time and enjoy the memories!

Baby Shower Scrapbooking Page - 1999

I've had a hard time lately trying to decide what photos to scrapbook.  I finally pulled out these photos from my baby shower in Napa, CA, December 1999 (for our oldest baby). 

Cameo Coral was a great match for Ms Martha's chair.  I love how that color pops on the Saffron polka dot paper from our Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin' Kit (#113918; $19.95) and stripped paper from our Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper (#117161; $24.95). 

The little bunny stamp and the "baby shower" stamp are both from our Cute & Cuddly Stamp Set (#113682; 26.95).  I also used the following accessories to complete this fun page:

Welcome Baby Digi-Page

I'm having so much fun with My Digital Studio!

This photo is from the day we brought Mary Shannon home from the hospital.

I altered a few of the items on this page - rotated the background paper, changed the colors of the duckie paper, and changed the color of the heart embellishment.

I'll start holding classes soon on how to do all this and more in Stampin' Up's brand new digital paper-crafting software!  Stay tuned for more details...
