Quick Tip: Longer Pillow Box from Sizzix Die

Need a longer pillow box from the Sizzix Pillow Box Die?

It's easy.  Just run two sheets of the same color card stock through the Big Shot (one at a time to make sure you get all the score marks).  Then trim one or both pieces from top to bottom, to get the length you need.  Use Sticky Strip to adhere the two sides together, assemble the box, and cover the seam with a 1/4" strip of contrasting card stock. Decorate the rest of your box.  You can hold the sides together with a small amount of adhesive, or by tieing a matching piece of ribbon around the long ends of the box as shown above.  The "thank you" sentiment was printed from My Digital Studio.

Love Is In The Air

I had so much fun designing these projects for our Coffee Group to make at our January meeting. 

The card was cut using our brand new Framelits dies, as were the hearts.  It's hard to see, but I embossed the Cherry Cobbler flag at the top with our new Edgelits (strip embossing folders). 

The box is a very simple 3/4"-deep box with a die-cut scallop square on the front and back.  The front of the box was designed in My Digital Studio.  I printed six to a sheet.  Once cut out, they were sponged and glued to the box with Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I also added one of our Large Basic Pearls inside the "o" (not pictured).  Here is a complete list of the items used on these projects:

8 Weeks of Hanukkah - #7

Welcome to 8 Weeks of Hanukkah

Cards, Gifts and Bags! I've created cards, tags, gift items and gift bags to share with you over these 8 weeks leading up to the
celebration of Hanukkah. 
The series is in the same format as my 12 Weeks of Christmas, including step-by-step instructions.  Next year, it will be exclusive to my newsletter members.  But, since this is a brand new series, I decided to publish it for everyone.  Unfortunately, this series has been overcome by events, but I will play catch-up and get the rest of my samples to you over the next several days.

Sample #7 is a Glittery Bag made with our Fancy Favor Die and Glimmer Paper.  This bag comes together very quickly, so you can easily make lots of them for all your small gifts!

Supplies:

Instructions:

1. Cut a sheet of 12x12 Glimmer Paper in half, and run it through the Big Shot using the following sandwich layers:  extended cutting pad on bottom, then a card stock shim (if neceessary for your machine), then the die topped with the Glimmer Paper (*glimmer side down), then the exteneded crease pad (add another shim on top if necessary to gain a clean cut).
2. Fold and glue the tabs of the die cut paper to form the bag.
3. Cut 2 pieces of Bashful Blue Satin Ribbon to about 5-6" and attach to the inside of the bag, forming handles.
4. Wrap more Bashful Satin Ribbon around the bag and tie a knot, then trim the excess ribbon.
5. Fill with a tasty treat or a small gift.

I am very far behind on all my social media fun stuff.  I promise I'll fix that over the next few days.  I rolled right from a fun family trip to Nashville over Thanksgiving into hosting a baby shower, then a vendor opportunity popped up.  So, now that the reality fun is done, I can spend a little more time on our virtual fun.  I will catch up on the 8 Weeks of Hanukkah, and also send out the missed weeks from my 12 Weeks of Christmas newsletters very soon.

Super Stampin' Class: Valentine Treat Box

I love these little 3x3 treat boxes, developed by Angie Juda.  It utilizes our Scallop Square Duo Die, which I just love!  They're a great size for Ghiradelli squares, or any small treat.

Super Simple Scrapbooking and a Challenge

How about some Super Simple Scrapbooking for Super Bowl Sunday?

I found these photos a few days ago.  They are from July 2002, when we visited family in New York and Connecticut.  My Uncle Bill is a huge Green Bay Packers fan, and put the helmet on our then two year old daughter.  How stinkin' cute is that?! 

I went super simple on these pages, partly because I wanted the photos to stand out, and partly because this is a really bold color combination. 

I love that I was able to make all the numbers and letters in our Daffodil Delight to match the rest of both pages.  I simply used my Stampin' Up! Sizzix Big Shot with our EXCLUSIVE Timeless Type Junior Alphabet (#115951) die set and adhered them with Tombow MonoAdhesive.

CHALLENGE:  What can you do with this year's Super Bowl Colors?

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for many things, among which are my husband and kids, family, friends, freedom, and the fact that we are finally getting settled after a very extended move. 

I had these things in mind as I created my fluffy, fat turkey with punches and Sizzix dies, as a project for Thomas' first-grade class. This was the first real project that I've been able to make since moving into the new house, and can't wait to get to work on more projects after celebrating the holiday this weekend. 

The kids had a blast making these guys last week!  I think the their favorite things on this card were the googlie eyes and getting to punch the two little tags for the waddle.  They also got a kick out of using the Sizzix die cut machine.  

I hope you all have a fun, relaxed, and safe Thanksgiving weekend! 

Father's Day Club Projects

Father's Day is just around the corner; and this month, my club members are making a card and 6x6 scrapbook page for the occasion. 

I saw a card that Becky Roberts made, over at Inking Idaho, and just loved her creative use of our Totally Tool stamp set!  I decided this would be one of our club projects; then, changed it a little, to put my own spin on it and so that we could use our new Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

I wanted a 6x6 scrapbook page to match the card, and this is what I came up with:

It's simple and masculine, and ready for one or more small photos of Dad!

Teacher Thanks Card

How cute is this?!  I love our new Island Oasis Designer Paper, and this is about the cutest school stamp set ever!  It's called First Day, and is perfect for teacher gifts/cards and scrapbook pages for all your preschoolers and elementary students.  On this 5"x5" Whisper White card, I also used the Daisies Flower #2 Bigz Die with the Sizzix Big Shot; our Modern Label Punch; and, our Thank You Kindly stamp set.

Happy Mother's Day: A Tale of Two Toms . . .

I thought it was fitting to share this scrapbook page with you on Mother's Day.  It is Tom on his 2nd birthday, June 1972.  What a cutie - then and now! 

I just made this one recently, using some paper that was in our Holiday Mini Catalog (sorry, it's no longer available), and the Big Shot.  Thomas (our 6 year old) actually came up with the idea of using  the Taken With Teal letters behind the Really Rust letters!

And, here is a page of Thomas on his 2nd Birthday.  I LOVE this photo!

This is definitely an oldie.  It was one of the very first pages I made after signing up as a SU! Demonstrator.  In fact, I was at a friend's crop with my brand new goodies (the Starter Kit had just gotten here that same day!).  The only things on this page that are SU! are Alphabet letters, which are now retired, and the Chocolate Chip Ink that I used to stamp them.  Now, I only use SU! products, but I love to look at my older pages, mostly for the photos but also to see who my style has changed over the years.   

Everyone has told Thomas for years that he looks just like his Daddy when he was young.  Well, the other day, we realized that he knows exactly what that means . . .  We were at a friend's house, and in the conversation Liz said, "It's a good thing you're cute."  And, without skipping a beat, Thomas turns toward Tom, points right at his face and says, "Yeah, soon I'll be that!"

I'm so glad to have you as a guest in my Castle! 

The projects you will see, during your visit here, feature a variety of color schemes and types of projects; but, they all have one thing in common.  All of these projects feature the very versatile Stampin' Up! set called Priceless {Item #115052}.  It is a name very befitting of the photos in my first project (above).

This is a 12x12 scrapbook page of my Prince teaching one of our Princesses how to ride her bike without the training wheels.  It is . . . "Priceless." 

Color Scheme: Tempting Turquoise, Lovely Lilac, Orchid Opulence, and Certainly Celery.

Here is a fun little card, standard A2 size. 

Color Scheme:  Bermuda Bay, Rose Red and Whisper White

 

I love the butterfly image in Priceless!  It's cute and whimsical without being to "kiddie." 
This mini composition book would be perfect for a teacher gift, especially one with a "butterfly" class like in our Prince's preschool.  

The final project in my Royal Gallery is a fun mini scrapbook that I created with our Sizzix Big Shot and Dies.  In addition to the Priceless set, this one also features our brand new Island Oasis Designer Series Paper and Island Floral Die.  Both of these will be available on May 1st, in the Stampin' Up! 2010 Summer Mini Catalog. 

I love using our think Window Sheets to make scrapbooks and journals!  Here is the album with the front cover open.

New Mini Scrapbook with Sizzix Clear Die

I just love our new, exclusive Scalloped Square Die for the Sizzix Big Shot!  This is a clear die, so you can lay if over a piece of pattern paper or a photo to line it up exactly where you want it. 

For this scrapbook, I used the clear die to cut our Thick Window Sheets and six squares of Whisper White card stock.  Then, I just added photos from our recent trip, stamped and embellished the cover and inner pages. 

Voila!  A fantastic little "thank you" gift for Grandmom!

Scallop Ovals On My Mind

Our new Sizzix Oval Die is so fun!  It's a little large for cards, but does fit.  I used it on this card last week~  

It was super easy to incorporate this large die cut into my card.  You just need to KISS it, Keep It Simple Stampers!

I simply ran the die through the Big Shot once with Whisper White and once with the skinny striped paper from our gorgeous new Parisian Breeze Specialty paper, then stamped the image and sentiment from Upsy Daisy in Chocolate Chip.  With such a large focal point, I did not try to stamp anything else on the card.  I also kept the embellishing to the barest minimum that I could.  The Chocolate Chip background was run through the Big Shot with one of our SU! Exclusive Texturz Plates.  And, the Whisper White card base was quickly sponged with Baja Breeze to match the Specialty paper.  So, the background is not completely plain, but it is very subtle.    

I can't wait to play with this die in my scrapbooking.  I'll post photos as soon as I do.

February Club Card

I wanted to share this month's Club Card with you.  I recently altered the way we meet each month, to make it more flexible for club members and help everyone use their supplies more often.  I'm also going to start a club challenge next month.

This month's Hostess Choice hostess requested that we make a card using Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue along with the Sizzix Big Shot, particularly our new Texturz Embossing Plates.  Dry Embossing has never been easier!

Frosting for a Friend

The other day I was browsing the Splitcoast Stampers Gallery for some inspiration.  My friend Nicole had announced that last week was the 1st Anniversary of her local bakery, The Sweet Boutique, and I wanted to make a really fun card for her.  Well, I found what I was looking for here, designed by Donna Centamore.  I followed the link to her blog and tracked down her great video tutorial, which can be viewed here.  Thanks, Donna!  This is such a fun and creative idea!

Here is the card I made with my homemade "frosting."

I used the Crazy for Cupcakes (cupcake image) and On Board Lots of Letters (the 1).  The fun polka dot paper is from our Always Double Sided Designer Paper pack.  I also punched an oval (with the Wide Oval Punch) from a piece of pink polka dot paper that is in our new Tea Time Double Sided Designer Paper pack.  That yummy Chocolate satin ribbon is from the new Valet Ribbon set.  And, I added a few pearl half-backs from the Pretties Kit.  The card base is Whisper White.  I inked the edges of the card and the polka dot paper with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink.  The only non-SU tool I used was the scallop oval punch, which made the Chocolate (textured cardstock) background on which I mounted the cupcake.

I didn't have a Happy Anniversary stamp, and didn't want to stamp all those letters.  So, I christened my brand new Billboard Sizzlets Alphabet in the Big Shot.  I used some Chocolate pattern paper from the Always pack, and ran the die through the Big Shot twice plus a couple of individual letters.

I Love My New Toys!

I received my first shipment from the new Spring-Summer catalog last week!  Here is what I made with my favorite new stampin' toys:

So, what did I use? 

pattern paper - Parisian Breeze Specialty Paper is our brand new Double Sided Pattern Paper that is textured, cover-weight cardstock.  I LOVE this paper! 

ribbon - Valet Ribbon is one of our new ribbon multi-packs.  This one has the satin polka dot ribbon you see here, plus a Baja Breeze satin ribbon and a black velvet ribbon. 

stamps - Friends 24-7 is a brand new stamp set.  There is also a jumbo wheel stamp to match, called Friendly Words.  These stamps so fun to play with, and arevery versatile.  There is a tall flower stamp, which is stamped in Chocolate Chip on the Whisper White card base.  Then, I stamped the bird in Close to Cocoa and masked it to stamp the flourish.  The flourish was stamped in Baja Breeze, then I used the Rock'n'Roll technique to get the Chocolate Chip around the edges.  "24-7" was also inked with Baja Breeze.  I simply swiped my Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker randomly over the image to give it the brown accents.  This set also contains two (2) sentiment stamps that are not shown here.  

die cut - By far and away, the most versatile Sizzix die for the Big Shot is the Top Note die.  I have used this die on at least 80% of my cards and projects in the last several months.  It is definitely a favorite of mine!  I ran a piece of Whisper White through the Big Shot with the Top Note die, then I cut a small strip of the blue flower paper from the Parisian Breeze Specialty pack and adhered it to the white die cut piece.  I also inked all around the Top Note with Chocolate Chip ink 

extra embellishment - Flower Fusion Too is one of our felt flower packs.  It includes Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze and Pink Pirouette felt flowers.  There is a vintage brad in the middle of my flowers.

Crop & Craft for a Cure

Today was Crop & Craft for a Cure in support of Team COURAGE and the fight against Breast Cancer!  I'll try to post a few photos soon, but those who were able to attend had a great time. 

If you were unable to attend today, you still have a chance to make the projects!

This is a mini chipboard album.  The chipboard coasters we used for the front and back cover were provided by Cindy Lyles at www.starlitstudio.net.  Thanks so much Cindy!  Everyone loved the coasters and the project!

 

This was our Season of Simple Grace card.  Sorry, the lighting didn't work so well on this one.  The card base is actually Whisper White cardstock, and much brighter in person.

The colors on this card are similar to another card I made that was inspired by Harry Potter and Jan Tink.  You can see that one here. 

  

This is the inside of the card.  Again, visualize bright white paper for the background.  :-)

   

And, finally, we have the Snowman Ornament and Box.  The ornament was made with chipboard scalloped squares from our On Board Something Seasonal packet.  I love the little bit o'bling on this one!

The box is actually four Scalloped Envelopes cut from the Big Shot!  This little die is so versitle, I think I need to do a whole class on it!
